How Heidi’s Groups have helped

people struggling with grief

Heidi Gessner was leading a recovery group for recently bereaved people, and I was lucky enough to be included. Her sensitivity, calm demeanor and years of experience made for wonderful sessions. At one session. Heidi announced that her book was coming out that very week, and how excited she was. Two days later, a copy was in my hands, and I spent the next three days totally immersed in reading it.

Cindy

Heidi is a wonderful person. She is kind, experienced, and very knowledgeable. I learned so much in the grief group and it helped normalize my multitude of feelings. Also, her book, Pockets of Grace, helped me so much in coping with my grief. A very enjoyable read.

Pat

Heidi’s writing group was a big part of my healing. A healing that makes my new relationship possible. I’m full of gratitude.

Navigating the Overwhelming Waves of Strong Emotions in Grief: The Indigo Flow Method

Grief and loss are natural and inevitable parts of life. When you’ve experienced the death of someone your love, or a significant loss, you may feel overwhelmed with a rollercoaster of emotions, including sadness, anger, guilt, and anxiety. Coping with these feelings can be a challenging and a long process that requires time, patience, and self-compassion.

Community can be comforting and reduce the feelings of isolation and loneliness, while navigating this landscape of loss.

This is where Indigo Flow comes in – here you’re invited to take an internal journey alongside others and lean into that empty space left by loss, where newfound wisdom will awaken within you, boosting resilience while offering profound growth. Through self-exploration and grounding exercises, you’ll learn supportive strategies that can help you cope and grow during difficult times.

In this first session, we’ll look at the wholistic view of how grief and loss affects you: body, mind, and soul.

Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery it is. In the boredom and the pain of it no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace.”

Embracing the Sacred Flow: Navigating the Spiritual Dimensions of Grief

In times of grief and loss, you may find yourself grappling with deeply personal and existential questions about the nature of the universe. This emotional and spiritual journey may be characterized by a heightened awareness of your surroundings, as well as an increased sensitivity to serendipities and synchronicities in everyday life. God may be felt more intimately during times of crisis, or silent and distant.

The saints and poets have much to teach us about surrendering to this sacred flow of life. The Divine is woven into all we do, in ways we don’t often imagine. In this session, you’ll learn about the deeply personal nature of the Divine and discover the grounding power of rituals to unlock a renewed sense of peace, purpose, and connection. We’ll also look at the timeless teachings of saints and poets to help navigate your grief.

Grateful Grief

Cultivating an attitude of gratefulness, even in times of sorrow and hardship, can be a profoundly life-affirming experience. Many spiritual paths such as Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism recognize the power that comes from expressing gratitude for all we have been given – it’s more than simply acknowledging our needs being met but rather appreciating what we have. With this mindset there is no requirement to change your circumstances or desires; instead, you will find yourself changing how you approach each situation and transform the way you view your world altogether. As you narrow your focus and align your actions, thoughts, and lifestyle to that goal, a vortex surrounds you’ve put out into the universe.

The Soul Flow: Your Journey of Self-Discovery

The grief journey has many lessons. One of the biggest questions is who am I now? While it may seem daunting, this can be an opportunity for renewal and reinvention. If you allow yourself time in a soul flow – that transitional space between loss and possibility – then your dormant gifts will have room to develop as never before! Grief encourages change from within; often reawakening forgotten values so that meaning becomes clearer, perhaps for the first time. By keeping an open-minded after loss, there are infinite possibilities awaiting your discovery. In this session, we’ll look at roles you play, emerging identities, your strengths, as well as the legacy you want to leave.
